Two years ago, the Phantom Thieves stole the hearts of millions of fans around the world. Now, they’re getting ready to make their triumphant return in Persona 5 Royal, an enhanced release of ATLUS’s acclaimed JRPG Persona 5.

Persona 5 returns with all new content and a brand-new character in Persona 5 The Royal. Coming to Japan October 31 and the West in 2020. The Royal will feature a new third semester, along with new events involving daily school life and the Phantom Thieves. It will feature the addition of two new characters.

The trailer that debuted at the show is now available on the official ATLUS YouTube channel (Japanese only), and a teaser for the Western release is available on the Atlus USA channel. Please visit the official teaser site and sign up for the Persona newsletter to get the most up-to-date information about Persona 5 Royal and other Persona series titles: http://atlus.com/P5RLook forward to more information about Persona 5 Royal leading up to its release in the West in 2020.

The new character is called Kasumi, who is a new female heroin who enters Shujin Academy the same spring that the protagonist transfers in. She’s been an award-winning rhythmic gymnast since middle school and Shujin Academy has high hopes for her future. She likes the protagonist but rejects the Phantom Thieves. It’s not known whether she will be an enemy or an ally, but I hope she is a ally.

The second new character is Takuto Maruki who is a part-time school counsellor that was employed after the April incident with a certain teacher, out of concern for the students. The students seem to be admire him, because he’s a good listener and gives useful advice.
