What’s going on readers. I hope you’re having a great day. Capcom released a legacy trailer for one of their legendary characters. A much-needed comeback to the world of gaming.
None other than Mega Man 11. The first Mega Man came out 30 years ago on the NES on December 17th, 1987, and Capcom is celebrating that legacy with the 30th anniversary with a gift for series fans. Mega Man 11 is due to come out in late 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Check out the awesome announcement trailer
Mega Man 11 is the first new game in the main Mega Man series since the release of Mega Man 10 back in 2010. But unlike the other modern Mega Man sequels like Mega Man 9 and 10, Mega Man 11 is jumping forward with a new, hand-drawn 2.5D art direction instead of the traditional, retro 8-bit aesthetic of previous titles.
Capcom’s first Mega Man Legacy Collection contains the main series entries 1-6, and its follow-up includes Mega Man 7-10. So far, both have released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, and they’re finally heading to Switch (with amiibo support) early next year.
Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 on the Nintendo Switch will include a new awesome rewind function that allows lets players to quickly undo their Mega Man mishaps – a welcome addition to the notoriously challenging series, especially for those of a less masochistic disposition. The rewind feature will also be made available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in a future free update.
It’s great to see the iconic Capcom character back after so many years, read the origin story for Mega-Man below
Mega Man’s role in the original story is to battle the mad scientist Dr. Wily and his ever-growing army of robots, and stop them from taking over Earth by using their own special abilities against them. Utilising his special Mega Buster arm cannon, and his ability to copy a defeated robot’s Special Weapon, Mega Man must travel the world and traverse harsh environments in order to bring Wily’s menace to an end. With the help of his creator Dr. Light and his assorted robotic companions, Mega Man’s eventual goal is to one day achieve “everlasting peace”.
