Check out Knuckles in Flying Battery Zone for Sonic Mania

SEGA recently  announced, that they would be working on two new Sonic 2017 Intellectual Properties. This new IP was refereed to as Project Sonic. The games were identified as:  Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces. Today SEGA we have an exclusive look at what Sonic Mania is going to look like.


The trailer is from SEGA’s upcoming IP Sonic Mania which is a platform game developed by Headcannon and PagodaWest Games and published by SEGA. The trailer feature’s Knuckles the echidna in the stage flying battery zone.

Flying battery zone as the name suggest features parts of the level where your character is floating through hovering fans, to proceed to the next part of the level. Knuckles has to avoid obstacles such as metal spikes on the ground to get to the next platforms all in a 2-Dimensional level. This game will allow you to use Knuckle’s spin dash to attack nearby enemy robots.This level is like a maze, platform game level it is awesome. Sonic Mania is SEGA’s attempt at returning back to their roots of Sonic video games.

The fact that they are developing two new Sonic games shows that they are catering to different audiences with this new project. Sonic Mania is for the old school fans who grew up playing old school sonic games like Sonic & Knuckles on Sega Genesis and Sonic Forces is for the modern-day sonic fans who played games like: Sonic Generations, Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Heroes.

Sonic Mania’s release date is to be announced, the platforms that the game will be available on will be: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows featuring a single player and multiplayer.
